A Modern Taste of Venetian History
With a story that traces back around 500 years, Nembo is a living, breathing monument to the rich history of Venice. Its centrally located neighbourhood is just a stone’s throw from the Rialto market, a lively and vibrant open-air market once bustling with fishermen, farmers, craftsmen, artisans and butchers serving the local community.
The Rialto was not only the mercantile heart of Venice, but also its administrative heart – lined with offices of magistrates who oversaw the city’s powerful economy, finances and wealth. Standing on the same street as Venice’s first recorded inn, the building Nembo now occupies was part of a palace that once occupied this famous palazzo, and can be clearly seen in a notable work by the famous artistCanaletto, painted in the eighteenth century.
